As part of our exciting expansion plans,  we are looking for a dynamic, data-driven Junior BI Developer who can work with our Development team in helping to analyse, design and develop MS Business Intelligence solutions, working closely with the business to understand our requirements. Data, insights and analytics are an integral part of our business and we are looking for a results-oriented individual who's passionate about delivering impactful data visualisation, dashboard development and warehousing solutions.

What would be my main responsibilities as a Senior BI Developer?

  • Support the maintenance and development of cubes, reports and dashboards

  • Support in the development of complex data warehousing solutions with Microsoft SQL Server

  • Translate business requirements into dashboards and visualisations that can be easily understood and used

  • Support in providing complex reporting solutions and conduct relevant testing to provide fit for purpose dashboards

  • Maintain and improve a diverse set of dashboards with a passion for automation

  • Identify opportunities for improvements through data analysis and champion the use of data to derive commercial insights and drive action across the business

  • Evaluate and improve existing BI Systems

  • Develop and execute database queries and conduct analyses

  • Develop and update technical documentation

  • To support BAU as required

Job requirements

What we’d like from you

  • Have 1-2 years experience working in Business Intelligence/Data 
  • Have some experience analysing, designing and developing MS BI solutions
  • Proficient in SQL and Microsoft SQL Server Analysis Services (SSAS) 
  • Be able to build and enhance OLAP cubes using Microsoft’s Analysis Services
  • Proven ability to model Data Warehouse entities using Dimensional Modelling
  • Some knowledge of T-SQL, MDX and experience of writing and designing performance queries
  • Some experience designing and implementing data cubes using SSAS
  • Some experience in troubleshooting and understanding existing database systems, performance tuning and optimisation
  • A good understanding of ETL, Stored Procedures, Functions and Triggers
  • Strong ability to communicate effectively with both business and technical staff with a keen willingness to learn

The following would be a great advantage:

  • Full SQL Server BI Stack knowledge and experience in SSIS, SSRS & SSAS (2016) 
  • Commercial experience of working with SQL Server in a Retail environment
  • Experience of Microsoft Power BI Tools: Power Pivot, Power Query, Power View, Power Map (Preferred but not essential, we can teach you this)
  • Knowledge and experience of .NET
  • Any experience with other BI tools such as Tableau, Business Objects, Qlikview
