A fantastic and rare opportunity has arisen for an experienced, action-orientated SQL DBA to join the infrastructure department of a rapidly growing, dynamic organisation who are transforming the way retail businesses operate.

As our DBA, you will be reporting directly to the Director of IT Infrastructure & Hosting Operations and will be responsible for designing, implementing, and supporting all of the business and customers' needs, along with mentoring our junior DBA.

We are going through an exciting period both as a team and as a business, itim have created our own cloud platform, designed and built from the ground up, specifically for the needs of our customers. 

If successful, you will take a leading role in designing the future of how our SQL systems will grow and scale in the itimCloud. in addition, in time as we grow the department, you will provide itim with a rock-solid foundation for a DBA Services team that will grow with the business, that will in turn significantly contribute to itim’s continued success.

What would be my main responsibilities as DBA/Data Architect

  • To work closely with our solution architect's and Development teams. 
  • To architect implement and support Database availability 
  • To always consider Database security and to apply sensible best practice wherever possible. 
  • Participation in technical research and development to enable continuing innovation within the infrastructure 
  • To Monitor performance and manage parameters to provide fast responses to front-end users
  • To Mentor and guide our Junior DBA, to grow the DBA services team

    Job requirements

    What we’d like from you

    • A minimum of 10 years total SQL experience 
    • A minimum of 5 years of Senior or high-level DBA experience
    • A strong desire to work as part of a team that embrace’s technology and business change 
    • You must have a genuine interest in tech & the tech industry. Essential for us to drive innovation. 
    • Experience with Microsoft SQL 2005 up to SQL 2019 ‣ Working experience with MDX, SSAS, SSIS and SSRS 
    • Experience with Windows Server 2008 - 2016 ‣ Experience of T-SQL ‣ The ability to prioritise and cope with a changing environment 

    Desired Experience

    • Recent experience of RedGate SQL tools 
    • Recent experience and exposure Pii locating and associated GDPR regulations. 
    • Knowledge of SQL availability groups 
    • Knowledge of Powershell, SQL R, C# and Python. ‣ Awareness of legal compliance and standards including PCI DSS, GDPR. 
    • To have achieved, Microsoft MCP.

    Salary: £30k - £50k, dependent on experience
